Your keyboard may also be locked, so try typing osk into the search field or double-clicking on the keyboard icon to get a menu that lets you change the region and language.
Acer Predator Helios 300 gaming laptop
Acer’s new gaming laptop is a very powerful full-size machine with many of the features of its higher-end competitors. The Helios 300 is also a bit heavier than its direct competition, with a weight of nearly seven pounds for the configuration we tested. That’s about a pound more than the ROG Scar 17, which weighs 6.1 pounds and the MSI GP76 Vector, which weighs seven and a half pounds. It’s not a lightweight machine, but it’s still more than enough for most casual uses.
The Acer Predator Helios 300 is powered by the latest Intel and Nvidia hardware. Its Core i7-12700H processor is a mainstream 12-th-gen, 12th-generation CPU with 14 cores and 20 threads. Its hybrid CPU also includes six High-Performance HyperThreaded Cores and eight extra Efficiency Cores for efficiency. This machine can run at 110W for a sustained period of time.
The Acer Predator Helios 300 is the perfect gaming laptop for those who want a large display and lots of GPU power. Its 17-inch display is excellent, and it offers a 144-Hz refresh rate, which is perfect for gaming. It also has an RGB-illuminated keyboard, and is quite affordable. The Acer Nitro 5 has a more conservative design, but comes with a full-sized keyboard and is available with either Intel or AMD processors.
While the Acer Predator Helios 300 lacks biometrics, it is still a worthy gaming machine. Its touchscreen is a nice touch, but it lacks fingerprint-sensing technology. The Helios 300’s back panel is removable. It holds the RAM, storage slots, WiFi chip, and thermal module. The 17-inch Helios shares the internal design of the 15-inch version. There is a dedicated software application, Predator Sense, which enables you to customize the keyboard backlighting, audio, and power profiles.
While the Acer Predator Helios 300 is not the best gaming laptop out there, it’s still a very good value for the price. For $1,699, you can get this laptop with a powerful CPU and 16GB of RAM. It has a 512GB SSD and a 1080p 240Hz display. The only drawbacks are that it’s less durable and lacks a decent audio quality.
The Acer Predator Helios 300 features an 15.6-inch 1920×1080-pixel display. Its 240Hz refresh rate makes games look silky smooth. We were impressed when we watched the trailer for The Misfits, and we could actually see details with our eyes in the dark. Even Brosnan’s hair looked snazzy. Thankfully, this laptop has the hardware to play any game we throw at it.
The Helios 300 is also faster than the ROG Scar 17. It scored higher than the ROG Scar 17 in the same tests, thanks to its more aggressive Overlock. Both models use the same RTX 3070Ti 150W graphics chip, allowing the processor and GPU to run at higher power levels. With this performance, the Helios 300 is more than capable of playing most games at maximum settings.
Acer Swift 5 ultra-light laptop
Acer’s Swift 5-series ultra-light laptops provide a great combination of performance and portability. The lightweight, compact design boasts a sleek IPS display for more screen real estate. The compact keyboard has backlighting for added visibility. The Acer Swift 5 ultra-light laptop weighs just 2.7 pounds. For a laptop with a low price tag, the Swift 5 may be just what you’re looking for.
The Acer Swift 5’s keyboard offers a solid, if not swanky, feel. Its extra-slim borders are protected by Corning Gorilla Glass to avoid errant scratches. When opened, the keyboard dips below the chassis to prop itself up at an angle when typing. Fortunately, this doesn’t interfere with the keyboard’s usability. The keyboard is responsive, and the single-step illumination is very convenient.
The Acer Swift 5’s chassis is toned green with gold accents. While the overall design of the Swift 5 may appear juvenile, the hardware is impressively fast and responsive. It even has a fingerprint reader and a webcam. Its brushed aluminum body is made to last. Acer claims that the Swift 5 will be the most lightweight laptop in its class when fully charged. You can find a review of the Swift 5 here.
The Acer Swift 5 features a full selection of ports. It includes two Thunderbolt(tm) 4 ports, a USB 3.1 Gen 1 port, and a HDMI port. A fingerprint scanner and Windows Hello-compatible IR camera are also built into the Swift 5’s sleek design. The Swift 5’s port selection is a strong point. One USB 3.1 Gen 2 port is enough to power a mobile device, while another is an ideal place for charging your phone.
As for the battery life, the Acer Swift 5 uses a 56Wh battery with a good capacity. Midsize batteries are capable of delivering impressive results, and the battery life of the Swift 5 is around 15 to 17 hours. The battery charges quickly. A 30-minute charge will give you four hours of power. That’s an excellent battery life, and the Acer Swift 5 is expected to be available in Q4 of this year.
While the Acer Swift 5 has a good webcam, it’s not suitable for serious photo work. It’s not fast enough for full games, such as Civ 6, and can show noticeable lag from Industrial Age. Fortnite and Apex Legends are acceptable games, but AAA games will not run on the Swift 5.
Despite being an ultralight laptop, the Acer Swift 5 doesn’t come cheap. The price range of the Swift 5 is still quite high compared to ultraportables available today, and it’s not a bargain, either. In comparison to many ultraportables on the market, the Swift 5 is a powerful competitor for business users, and its thin, elegant design helps it stand out from the competition.
Acer Switch 7 thinnest laptop
Acer’s Switch 7 is among the world’s thinnest laptops. The black edition, meanwhile, stands out from the silver-clad competition with its matte-finish metal chassis and rounded edges highlighted with chrome. Its slim and elegant design recalls that of the Microsoft Surface Pro and HP Spectre x2.
The Acer Switch 7 features an 8th-generation Intel Core i7 processor and 16GB of RAM. Although it is one of the thinnest laptops in the world, it’s not cheap. The Aspire series has several cheaper models. The Aspire 1 models have an Intel Celeron processor, 4GB of RAM, and 64GB of flash memory. While the price is considerably cheaper, the Aspire 1 models are a bit chunkier than the Switch 7.
The Acer Switch 7 Black Edition has two graphics cards – an Intel integrated UHD Graphics 620 and an Nvidia dedicated GeForce MX150. The integrated Intel graphics solution is good for simple tasks, but it falls short when it comes to demanding applications like gaming. However, the Acer Switch 7 Black Edition also includes a lower-powered 1D12 version with a core clock of 936 MHz and a 10-watt TDP. Despite the comparatively low price, the Switch 7 is much better than competing devices that use integrated GPUs.
The screen brightness on the Acer Switch 7 Black Edition is too low. Consequently, the display is not legible in direct sunlight and is distorted when exposed to artificial light indoors. In addition, the display response time, which measures the speed at which colors change, is also slow. The slower the response time, the more ghosting and afterimages can occur. This is particularly problematic for gamers who play fast-paced 3D games.
Acer’s Swift 7 thinnest laptop has been unveiled at the CES 2018 event as the world’s thinnest laptop. It is a full 10 hours of battery life, and its ultra-narrow bezels offer 92% screen-to-body ratio. It’s only 8.98mm thick and weighs just 1.96 pounds. It also boasts a 14-inch touchscreen and a backlit keyboard.
The Acer Switch 7 has an impressive dual liquid-cooling system to keep it cool. While it lacks a keyboard battery, the laptop uses an advanced cooling system called Dual LiquidLoop. This system enables the use of powerful components without active cooling. The Surface Temperatures are relatively low and don’t exceed 30 degC during idle time. However, the surface temperature reaches 45 degrees while under load.
