If you are looking for the best all-around laptop in the year 2023, then you may want to consider a few different options. There are several different types of laptops on the market, including the Asus ZenBook, the Lenovo Yoga 9i, and the Dell XPS 15. Then there are the high-end ROG Zephyrus G14 and the Surface Laptop Studio. We have covered each of these in detail, so you should know what to look for when choosing your next machine.
Lenovo Yoga 9i
The Lenovo Yoga 9i is an all-purpose convertible laptop that offers excellent performance and a stylish design at an affordable price. While this model is not as fast as some rivals, it’s worth considering if you’re looking for a powerful 2-in-1 that is still portable and versatile.
For a few hundred dollars, you can get a top-of-the-line convertible laptop that has a great design, powerful hardware, and impressive battery life. And, best of all, you can buy one directly from Lenovo.
The Yoga 9i’s 16:10 90Hz OLED screen is gorgeous. But the real surprise is its battery life. A single charge is enough to get you through an entire day of work.
Lenovo Yoga 9i’s design is sleek and easy on the eyes. The laptop’s soundbar hinge uses space for two speakers, so the speakers always face the user when you’re in any mode. It’s a nice feature that won’t block the screen in tablet mode.
Other standout features include a touchscreen and an ultra-fast SSD. Lenovo’s Q-Control 3.0 allows you to control the system’s performance and heat management.
Lenovo Yoga 9i’s keyboard is backlit, and there’s enough travel in every key. There’s also a touchpad with buttons for multi-finger gestures. This touchpad is covered in glass and is compatible with the Precision TouchPad feature.
The Yoga 9i’s battery isn’t removable, but it does support Rapid Charge Boost and a quick 15-minute charge gets you 2 hours of use. If you play games for longer periods of time, the battery will deplete faster.
Asus ZenBook 13
Asus ZenBook 13 offers the perfect blend of performance, battery life, and design. It is ideal for designers and content creators on the go.
The 11th generation Intel Tiger Lake processors use Iris Xe graphics for high-performance gaming and productivity. They’re energy-efficient and support HyperThreading.
One of the best features of the ZenBook 13 is its display. In addition to the great resolution, the OLED panel is also very bright and provides deep blacks. This display supports Dolby Vision and DisplayHDR 500.
Its small size means it is ideal for carrying around. However, it lacks some features that are common in larger laptops. For instance, it does not have a built-in speaker or 3.5mm audio jack. Also, it doesn’t have a touchscreen.
Another good feature is the ScreenPad. This lets you access editing controls more easily. You can also extend the display vertically, which is a real plus for multitasking.
Battery life is average. Even if you’re not using the machine, the ZenBook 13 will last a few hours on a single charge. A power bank will allow you to recharge the battery in about 49 minutes. If you need to charge it more often, you can use the fast charging feature.
Other options for a great laptop include the Dell XPS 13. There is an impressive range of ports, a comfortable keyboard, and a sturdy chassis.
Asus ROG Zephyrus G14
The Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 is a compact and portable gaming laptop. With a chassis that’s just 0.77 inches thick, this laptop isn’t nearly as bulky as other laptops in this category. It also features the smallest Mini-LED display on the market.
While its battery life isn’t the longest on the market, it’s still enough to get through an hour or two of gaming. It’s not a bad choice for gamers looking to get their hands on a high-performance machine without spending a fortune.
Its 13.4-inch screen has a 16:10 aspect ratio and offers an excellent display with deep contrast and great colors. Nvidia’s GeForce RTX series graphics are also integrated. This means the machine is capable of running most games at high resolutions and high frame rates.
The G14 has an impressive battery life, too. During a full day of gaming, it should have at least 11 hours of power. That doesn’t mean it’s the best for general use, however. If you do a lot of browsing or working with light-weight tasks, the battery will last a little longer.
Asus’ Zephyrus G14 refresh includes the smallest Mini-LED display on the PC market. It’s not only small, it’s bright. And it enhances HDR for media.
The G14’s keyboard has gamer-oriented fonts, plenty of spacing and plenty of keycaps. There’s even room for a touchpad.
Dell XPS 15
If you want a great all-around laptop, you can’t go wrong with the Dell XPS 15. This Windows 10 laptop is powerful enough to handle games, but also sleek and stylish. The design is sleek, with a dual-clutch hinge that holds the display in place. It’s also not as large or heavy as the 17-inch XPS.
The 15-inch model weighs between 4.2 and 2.10 pounds. That’s not a small amount for a Windows ultraportable, but it’s still light for a notebook. And the display is gorgeous. With a high-resolution IPS panel, the XPS has a wide, accurate color range.
The XPS 15 is a great choice for users looking to do a lot of work. You’ll find plenty of ports, and up to 2 TB of SSD storage. Plus, you’ll get the latest 12th-gen Intel Core CPUs. Those processors combine the power of efficient cores with high-performance.
The screen is also perfect for 4K video editing, and the wide colour gamut offers 94 per cent DCI-P3 coverage. You can also choose a model with a 3.5K OLED touch screen.
Some models offer a separate graphics chip for more serious tasks. You can also upgrade to Nvidia GeForce GTX graphics. A full-size SD card slot and Killer Wi-Fi 6 are included, as well as a 720p webcam.
In the Tom’s Guide battery test, the Dell XPS 15 (2022) lasted about 10 hours and 5 minutes, compared to 8 hours and 11 minutes for the Lenovo Yoga 9i Gen 7. For more power, you can opt for the more powerful version with a 256GB SSD.
ThinkPad
Lenovo ThinkPad all-around laptops have a solid performance and great price. For example, the Lenovo IdeaPad Duet 5 features a powerful system and a fast touchscreen. It is also perfect for cloud-based activities like watching videos on the go.
The ThinkPad X1 Carbon is a 14-inch laptop with plenty of power. The magnesium alloys used to create the case make it lightweight and compact. But that doesn’t mean that it sacrifices usability. Depending on the configuration you choose, it will have a resolution of up to 2560×1440 and 16GB of RAM.
Another Lenovo all-around laptop is the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 7. This laptop costs $1,189 and features a 14-inch OLED display. Though it has a sluggish battery, it offers a comfortable keyboard and Dolby Atmos speakers.
In addition to these Lenovo all-around laptops, there are a couple of more powerful alternatives, including the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Nano and the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Extreme. While both offer stellar performance and excellent battery life, the ThinkPad X1 Nano is the lightest laptop ever built, with a 13:10 screen and an incredibly tiny touchpad.
Meanwhile, the ThinkPad X1 Extreme has a powerful processor, but doesn’t have an OLED screen. That makes it a bit pricey and its internals aren’t as versatile as the ThinkPad X1 Carbon.
One of the other great options for all-around laptops from Lenovo is the ThinkPad X13. This is a mid-range Windows laptop that is loaded with a range of security features, including a fingerprint reader on the power button.
Surface Laptop Studio
Whether you are looking to upgrade from a desktop or you simply need a new laptop for work or play, you’ll want to check out the Surface Laptop Studio. This device is a Windows 11 machine that features several high-tech features.
One of the best features of the Surface Laptop Studio is its touch screen. The screen has a 3:2 aspect ratio, which is ideal for watching movies or playing games. It also has a 120Hz refresh rate.
Another nice feature is the hinge technology, which allows the Surface Laptop Studio to convert into a tablet. When folded into this mode, the screen is an ideal drawing or presentation surface. Depending on your needs, you can even flip the screen open for use as a digital easel.
Despite its limitations, the Surface Laptop Studio is a sturdy and reliable laptop. It features a good trackpad and a well-made keyboard. And you’ll get a year’s worth of warranty with this model.
While the Surface Laptop Studio’s performance is disappointing for its price, you can get a better gaming experience by investing in a more powerful system. Acer’s Nitro 5 or Razer’s Blade 14 are more suitable for serious gaming.
You can also customize your Surface Laptop Studio by adding a variety of accessories. For example, a dedicated Nvidia graphics card is a great option. Or, you can opt for a Surface-specific Slim Pen 2 which gives you wireless charging.
