Google’s newest product isn’t as bad as other Android tablets. The Pixel Slate is a bare-bones, tablet-only device, but it does its job well enough.
It’s designed to be easy to use. Aside from a tilt-sensitive stylus, you don’t get the kind of high-resolution screen found in some of the bigger tablets. But it does have a decent camera and an empathetic battery life.
The Pixel Slate features a three:2 aspect ratio LTPS screen. And while it maxes out at 400 nits, it doesn’t look over-saturated. In fact, it’s quite clear in dark scenes.
In addition to the touchscreen, the Slate has a digital stylus that’s great for sketching. You can also buy a Pixelbook pen that lets you input data with a capacitive touch.
It’s a shame that the best thing about the Pixel Slate isn’t a better version of the iPad. The Samsung Slate has a nice touchscreen, but it’s hard to recommend it over the iPad Pro.
One of the biggest drawbacks of the Slate is the price. At $169, it’s not an impulse purchase. Plus, you don’t get a $149 folio keyboard.
On the other hand, the Pixel Slate does come with an AUX port, USB-C charging cable, and a USB-C to USB-C adapter. These are all useful tools, but you can’t expect to use them all at once.
While the Pixel Slate doesn’t have the best display, it’s a solid effort. If you can overlook the fact that it’s not perfect, you’ll find it’s a powerful device that’s worth looking into.

The gram has been around for a while, but the latest additions are the gen-est. These machines have an impressive specification list, including Intel’s aptly named 13th generation vPro processor. The octo-core Xeon processors come with the nifty touchpad controls and an acoustic keyboard. They’re also equipped with a 1TB SSD, and a whopping 2.2-pound weight. Not to mention, the company has also added the gram style, a high-end laptop that comes with an LG Stylus Pen.

Alder Lake-based processors

These new chips will also be available for desktop PCs. A few of the higher-end models will support ATX12VO, a new lower power PSU specification. However, this will only be available on a few 600-series motherboards.
Alder Lake has eight E-cores and four Performance Cores, and the SoC will feature a 30 MB L3 cache. Alder Lake chips will support 12 bit HEVC, 10-bit decode, and AV1 8-bit decode.
Intel has also trimmed the die thickness to increase IHS. It has also added bulk metal to the chip’s top, allowing for greater cooling potential.
